I don't even know how I'll be able to
describe everything to you, but I'll do my best. It was a very hot, July,
muggy, summer day. We ended up 4X4ing with Dave's Jeep Wrangler
through backwoods countryside - a good mile into the woods. We finally went
as far as we could with the Jeep, and headed out on foot after that. A good
mile walk down hill woodsy area to a deep creek bed which was a run off from
a river. The water was CRYSTAL CLEAR, and so beautiful. We traversed steep
narrow cliffs over the water, and boy was I panicky. I can't stand
heights. Somehow, I was able to overcome my fear. I was excited to be able
to find such a hidden cache.
We ended up wading the water to a cave
which held our prize cache. We entered the cave twice and searched deep
into the cavern... Searching searching searching. My flashlight was faulty
as well as Dave's flashlight. What a time to give out on us in the cave.
We were enjoying it though. We finally spotted our prize underneath a wall
hidden behind rocks. Dave saw a glint of metal, and we both whooped and
hollered especially after our long hike! We didn't want to go home
empty handed.
The hike back was exhausting...! The swim
to our hiking path was so nice, but waterlogged hiking uphill was something
to forget about. All that extra weight was dragging me down. So, we
finally got back to our Jeep and hightailed it home. We scored a dinosaur
(which will remind us of our cave adventure)...! It was the longest
hike and drive of my entire life. As you can see in the pictures, I'm about
worn out. In fact, the pictures were taken only half the way through our
adventure. Dave and I in the cave, and Dave and I just outside the entrance
to the cave. Also, for those wondering what some caches look like,
there's a picture of Dave in the cave with the cache box of goodies. As you
can see, we are wet, muddy, and exhaustedly happy.
